They had to be scanned as color,my scanner would only produce blocks of black and white set to B/W the originals are far better just lacking in contrast.

My first camera was an Ansco 126 camera given to me by my parents. I don't think it was expensive and must have had a slow shutter speed. Seldom was I ever able to take a reasonably sharp photo with it. When I was around 12 years old, we attended a wedding. I remember watching the photographer taking photos and wishing I was photographer. My Ansco camera was with me but didn't produce very good results. My next camera was a 110 pocket camera. After that I bought a Yashica rangefinder (wow, that one took really sharp photos!) then I gave it to my brother when I bought my first SLR (Minolta XG-M).

Nice trip down memory lane, Mike! You obviously had a love for pets. :) I don't I even have any photos taken with my Ansco. Glad you saved yours!

Mike, that is so an awesome thread. Thank you so much sharing your childhood activities with us. A pity that I don/t have any photos of me but the photo of you with your dog Judy can be me as well. My dog name was Tasso.

Again, I love this thread

FWIW, scanners typically always have three scan modes:

1. Color

2. Grayscale (may be called B&W photo) Good for B&W photos, 256 shades of gray, from black to white.

3. Line art (may be called Black & White, or B&W Documents) This is only two colors, black or white... no gray. Good for text or line drawings.
