Sigma 150-500

I went ahead and got myself the Sig 150-500. Didn't want to wait for the Tam and the delays concerned me. (hope I won't regret it) Does anyone know whether it's ok to use the 150-500mm as a push pull rather than using the zoom ring? It works faster that way.

Mitch - I'm taking mine out this weekend as it's supposed to be super nice here and seeing what I can do with it...will post photos and what not sometime early next week. When I bought mine the Tamron wasn't available either and I got a great deal on it so was hard to say no. I've seen some excellent shots off this glass, even at 500.....

Must admit ime giving it thought instead of the tamron, yes 600mm would be nice but ime not all that happy with a lot of the 600mm results ive seen.

The tammy is much the same for its appetite for light . It's very at good 600mm even at f6.3 but if f8 is possible depending on your light it very very good . The bokeh fantastic and very easy to achieve even at f8 which I was surprised at . Here are a couple of shots at 600mm and the last Orangutan is at 480mm if I remember correctly

Looking forward to seeing your images with your new lens. Here are a couple of mine. One is cropped quite a bit. I included the original as well. Birds Forsythe Refuge 4357.jpgBirds Forsythe Refuge 4357-2.jpgBirds Forsythe Refuge 4518.jpg

Hmmmm....I can't recall if handheld or not. Had my tripod with me and some were handheld and others not.

I've taken to carrying my tripod with me when I take this lens out...haven't been in a situation yet where I've needed to used it (or wanted to) but I have a couple things planned where it will be beneficial... :)

I like the lens enough to keep it .vs sending it back and going through the hassle of a refund only to wait and spend more money on the Tamron....this is a hobby for me so I ma happy.... :D
