Hard to beat the simplicity of the egg! I was thinking the way light strikes the egg.

They do look good - I think its a lot to do with the texture of the shell and how the light falls off the curves too and of course almost everyone has one or two!!

I used a program called 'starstacker'. Main use is for stacking multiple astro photos.
