Howdy all - still new here and finding my way around. Thought I would make a thread for me to post some of my recent pics in. It will be mostly weddings / portraits related as that is what I do, but hopefully you will enjoy looking at them and if you want to ask questions on the hows and why's, I would be very happy to help. If you also wanted to make comments, good bad or indifferent, they will be received in the spirit they are delivered too... :)

First one...

This was an engagement shoot taken at the beach just down the road from me. The beach is called Burns Beach. The couple have booked me to photograph their wedding in October and their package came with a free love shoot. :) With all the cloud around, I thought the sky would have really turned on the sunset but sadly it didn't. We gone some nice colours, but nowhere near as many or as much as I was hoping for. Still, I think the result is good and the couple were ecstatic with the shoot.

I exposed for the sky and lit the couple with 2 icelights held by my lovely wife who was my assistant on the day...

Sorry about the crappy facebook jpg compression....

Not bad. It would have been even better if there was somewhat less space at the right side (how about some cropping?) or there were some objects (a ship, a lighthouse, a pier etc.) to maintain the "balance".

Nope - Endless ocean.... :)

Went with the rule of 3rds with this one... letting the sunset fill the space.

Love amongst the vines... 2 versions of this pic.

First, natural light

Second, I hid my assistant behind the couple and had the flash on low power, just to give some outline....

This bride and groom didn't want your run of the mill wedding pics. In our first meeting they said something along the lines of "I want to feel like I am on the moon" or something like that.... certainly was a challenge thinking of where, what etc to go.

Ended up at a place called Bells Rapids in the swan valley just outside of Perth. In winter these are fast flowing rapids. The Avon Descent comes through here.

But at the end of a long summer it was just about bone dry. A few pools of (to be honest) quite revolting stagnant water were around. And the smell was certainly something to behold.... but all in all, we got some great shots and the bride and groom were "over the moon!" ha - see what I did there??

I like the miniature effect on this - I'm guessing you did it yourself in post, or is this from the in-camera effect?

I think it is just the compression from using the 200mm f2.0

I must have been the perfect distance away to get that look. Processing was just a vsco film preset and slight contrast boost...

Hand held, natural light - kinda - I position 3 candles on the table, but hid 2 with the flowers, then got the bride and groom as close as I could to them. Thought this pose was a good one for an older couple. They were stoked.

Another pic of Perth - I don't usually do landscape shots, but I happened to have 15 mins to spare AND be on the right side of the city at the right time AND have my camera and tripod in my car....

I shot a wedding on the weekend about 300km's from where I live in a place called Margaret River. It is one of Australia's premier wine producing regions. The bride and groom had a car you don't often see here in Australia - a 1957 Chevy Belair... gorgeous car, gorgeous location and a great couple to photograph too.

You'll have to excuse facebooks crummy image compression...

One from a wedding a while back, but 1 image that gets so many comments and so many brides wanting to do a copycat shot.

Another image from a while ago, and another that gets a lot of comments. Has been used a few times in bridal magazines over here. And yes, the bride really was wearing thongs. :)
