Not sure what kind of car this one is....looks like an European model of some sort.

It's a Citroen. Yep, these are pretty uncommon stateside. Fine shots all Sonic' !

Wilmington's a neat town; we need to return someday. The U.S.S. North Carolina battleship is moored there too and beautifully restored for those that haven't yet seen it.

Where where you in Germany? Our son and his family are being transferred to Germany in July. He has 16 years in the Army, and signed up for his final 4. He's going to Grafenwoehr.

I was stationed in Ansbach back during the late 70's. I was in a Air Defense Artillery unit, but we had a battery at "Graf." We abbreviated Grafenwoehr. I've been there a few times.

Yep, as others have said, this is the French Citroen 2CV... It got it's name from the abbreviation of "Deux Cheval", or "Two Horses"... You've guessed it, 2 horse power!

VERY dangerous cars... Prone to tipping over with the high ride, narrow width and soft suspension and also very poor crash survival rates. None the less, they became a sort of cult car and only stopped being made in maybe the late 80's or early 90's.

I remember a neighbour of mine had one when I was a teenager. Four of us had a few beers one night, and with one person in each corner, we bounced the car 90 degrees on the guy's driveway. The next morning he was completely baffled and had to do a 20-point turn to get out of his driveway.

Fantastic shots Chris, looks like you had a good day out, and the dog even made a few cameo appearances :)

BTW I used to based in Detmold not far from Paderborn in Germany. I was serving in Germany between 1992 - 1996.
