Photoshop shake reduction

I was out for a walk last night and snapped this Robin. It was too far away and I think I needed more the 1/1000 for handheld at that distance, however I decided to have a little play with it in Photoshop CC. Now this picture will never win any competitions so please don't judge me by it, but I think the change is interesting and with a less rubbish picture the result can be very good. I did use a few Nik filters to improve the colour and contrast but the main change was running it through the Photoshop shake reduction tool.

It is a great feature to have. I use it on bird shots a bunch. Aids in getting an ID from a shaky far away shot.

It really helps if you have bright light though.

I thought I watched a TED talk about a new version of photoshop having algorithms in it that could remove camera shake.... but up until now I hadn't seen anyone use it and I was beginning to think I had dreamt it

Out of focus can never really be fixed, but camera shake is mappable to a degree because every pixel in the image moves in the same pattern. I was sure they had come up with a way to plot all these movements and remove them leaving the clean image afterwards. Nice to see the results in the real world... that is pretty cool.
