I really enjoy the second image. The first seems too cold for the subject for me. But what do I know?

I don't know if admitting that you obsessed is exactly bragging. most people just say i am crazy. But I follow the same criteria in my woodworking shop. I re-visit every job to evaluate what I did right and what I did wrong in order to do a better job the next time. I also hold that doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the true description of crazy.
