It's just plain hot here in Southern California, so a few yellow, oranges, and reds for those in the cold

Nice flower Michael. The only problem I have with bougainvillea is the thorns. Both Chris and I have gotten flat tires on more than one bike ride.

In our plant id classes, they are described as the perfect plant -- for your neighbor's yard. Pruning them is considered a blood sport.

Plant them under windows. If anyone breaks in to your house, the suspect should be easily identifiable.

An hour at the local arboretum this morning, so thumbnail overkill (starting with Marilynne's favorite)

Have you seen them in salmon? They're rare around here.

We have one on campus -- lovely color, but it fades very fast in the hard sun. Given our climate and the heavy preference for tropical theme gardens and pool areas, we are awash in cultivar color variations -- there are hundreds available. It's harder to find any of the true South American species.

I am really impressed with the way you are able to get so many of your flowers to stand out from their background. Very nice work. Which lens are you using for most of these flower photos?
