Insect photos with the D3100

I caught thus one earlier today, though she immediately scuttled behind the dishwasher and refused to come out, in spite of all the flies I offered. Hoping for better things tomorrow.

Looks like there's something not quite right with the length of the legs.

PS: Thanks Bill. You've just given me my 100th like.

hi wee hector nice job on the insect shots.if i may suggest picking up some macro lenses off ebay for around 20$ us. i purchased some just to play with and i think they might help you get that magnification your looking for.

He is using a macro lens. A 40mm macro lens. The only macro lenses I've found for $20.00 was the kind that screw on to a lens. I haven't found that they work much for me. Getting a true micro/macro lens has worked much better, but are much more than just twenty dollars for good ones old or new models.
But I would sure be interested in good micro/macro lenses for twenty dollars apiece! Can you post a link to where you found these lenses?

I took a long walk (5 miles) along the canal bank this morning and in 3 hours took about 300 photos, mostly damselflies, butterflies and moths but, just as I was thinking that I hadn't seen any spiders, I was met with this incredible sight:

A female wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi). Enjoy :)

Although it's not known why she makes those zig-zags at the top and bottom of the web, it appears that they reflect ultra-violet and may attract insects. Nonetheless, she is the most beautiful spider I've come across in the wild.

Here is one that I caught after getting some great advice! I don't know what her name is but she's pretty! Lol :D

And here is her boyfriend who didn't want his photo taken! Lol :D

Gorgeous. Those greens really get me going. Beautiful. Cheers, Brad :)

Cincy zoo yesterday. I don't know what they are, but I would have ran far away if they weren't behind glass!
