I think its tubes that are to keep the wire cages floating, looks like they are trying to let a reed bed form.

I have to say that I like it even more now that I can see it on my 27in Imac compared to my laptop. Very clear and colorful shot!! Nice work. I'm talking about the shot with the cluster of berries.
