I'm planning to buy some new lenses in the next few weeks but for the moment I am looking to see how far I can push the 18-55 VR kit lens.

I took this shot yesterday as an experiment. The flash setting was wrong, set to shutter opening rather than closure, resulting in forward ghosting which I very roughly cleared up. Taken in NEF, this is a jpeg of a small part of the shot so quality not good. However I would like to know what you think of it.

I hope this effort will help newcomers realise what an incredible piece of equipment they have in their hands, even though it is a D3100 with a stock lens. The possibilities for inventiveness are endless.

Its a great capture without specialised equipment - The D3100 rocks... :) love mine. Was a bit torn to upgrade to a D7100 or go for some lenses.

Decided on lenses :)
