That is why most stations now have something called an "Air Cleaner" installed. The control room had two very large buttons that are not on the switcher. One is called Audio and the other is called video. the signal is delayed 5 seconds and if this sort of thing happens then you hit the button and the audio is clipped for five seconds and the slip up is not heard. The FCC fines are steep for this sort of slip up.
