I took this a few days back. I've been toying with different settings. I kind of realize now maybe i should have picked a different camera, (especially after reading the thread about raw images VS. .jpegs.). but it is what it is. mine only shoots .jpeg by the way.

I appreciate any and all feedback. thanks.

I would have positioned the stones more to the right so the bird was looking into the shot than out of it. And I don't like the top of the stone cut off.

As for the camera you have great pictures but need the composition part that I as well am working to always improve. But the camera is doing its job well IMO.

Yes the camera is nailing it...shake up your normal approach try to quit thinking about centering things (good luck BTW)...I bet you can make it happen with that camera....personally I like making do with what I have but I am weird like that...

My wife shoots with a Nikon L120 and I am surprised at how good that camera is. At times she gets better pictures than I do. No problem with the camera you have just work of composition a little more.

The 16.1 million Pixels is a lot. You can do 16 X 20 easily with that camera and the 26x optical Zoom is equivalent to that of 22.5-585 mm lens in 35mm [135] format). That is a lot. Just be very careful when you zoom out that far. Bright light and be very steady or use a tripod for the best results.

Think you should have walked more left for this picture. Its hard to see the bird as it blends in with the background. But i do like the way you got grey and blueish tones on one side, and green and yellow on the other, right corner. But a different composition would probably have worked better.

I agree with Moab Man, bird should be looking into the shot.

Is it a place where you could go photograph again?

Only thing I can add is that the columns are leaning. It makes me want to tilt my head to the right drawing my focus away from the bird. (Looks a bit like a Mocking Bird to me)

Interesting subject matter, Ive fallen victim to centering things up too much myself in the past... use the rule of 2/3s.... Very helpful!

lol where to start. i didn't have much time to move and change angles. birds are fickle creatures and stand still for no one. i had actually zoomed all the way with my lens. anything more would have been a digital zoom and i have yet to get a decent picture using that. i got 3 shots off before it flew away.

as far as coming back here, its the local cemetery so i can spend plenty of time there.

thanks for the tips guys. i'll try to remember nose room from now on.
