Powerstation by Night...

Cool image, the only thing that's keeping this from being a monster shot is that the tower closest to the view has the top cut off. Other than that it's a nice composition. Btw, what are your specs? (lens, f, ISO, time?)

That is a wow shot for sure...
Like dave said it would have been good to see the full tower which has been cut off & maybe slightly more to the right...
The IQ is fantastic & looks very scifi and futuristic..
i like :)

Shot at 3 Second Exposure, 100ISO, F4.2 and 24mm

I couldnt get the closest chimney in the shot because of the angle I was sitting at, this was taken with my tripod on a ledge, with the camera overlooking a wall... lol So unfortunately I couldn't get it framed any better.... When zoomed out to 18mm, I was getting the wall in the frame... thought the chopped off chimney was the lesser of two evils....

Well with such positive feedback from you guys, I tempted to revisit this scene in future and try getting a the full shot in... After all, its only about an hours drive away from where I live :)

Love it, I agree with the comments about the top of the stack, Nut i am sure that we have all been there needing that little extra zoom or wide, but that is a minor niggle, its a great capture and amazing looking shot. Well Done.

Great shot. I really like it. I do agree about the cropping but we have all had that problem at one time or another. The one thing you could do it to chop off the top of that chimney and clone the top of the other on on it so it just looks shorter.

Would need a little more work but you get the idea.

Hehe wow thats pretty good actually! Thanks for the effort :) Think im best off just trying to go back to the location and thinking creatively to find a solution to fit the whole lot in the frame :)

I agree with what the others have said--it IS a terrific shot! If you do go back, I'd suggest trying to zoom out a little even if you get part of the wall in the pic. You can always crop it out later. The problem will be that when zoomed out further, the town will get pushed further away, and the perspective will be altered between those 8 upside-down 'U' shaped thingies. I bet this would be a dynamite shot for a full-framed camera. Awesome job though! :)

Cracking shot mate. Nice comp, great lighting and sharp. Well done. My very small CC would be to straighten the towers slightly as they do lean a little. If your using PS, the distort tool would do this very easily. A few tweaks and this would be a wall hanger :)

Fantastic shot mate, just a few niggles as the others have said but it's only a few peas off a full Sunday dinner.

Don't know if you can get the lower section in as well at the top of the stack, and maybe do a square crop, just a thought.

Artists impression ;)

Not suggesting you use Photoshop, it's just an impression on how to get the stack and base in when you go next.

You might prefer landscape format to the square option I've thrown in, It's just a suggestion as not all subjects fit well into the standard landscape or portrait formats.

You did an awesome job finishing off the front end of this power station as well as the tower!

Thanks mate, it wouldn't stand up to close inspection though.
It really was just a rough cut, paste, smudge and blend. The diagonal lines are not even straight.

The stack and sky could be done properly at high resolution in under an hour. The base could be fudged much better but it would never be as good as an original photo even with a lot of time spent.

I love playing with photoshop though.

Self taught, a lot of hours spent on it.
I once removed a person from the front of a family photo and made it look like they were never there.

To be totally honest, I was told it was impossible and couldn't be done so I just had to do it, lol.

I'd rather spend a few hours on photoshop than playing some computer game.
