I have taken photos for friends and family for a long time and I've started to get paid (we were swimming in wine and chocolates) I have a currently big demand for my limited services :Dbut the feedback is very good but although I push myself to be better every job I wondered if I might get some more useful feedback here.

Many thanks.
Oh, I'm new to this format and to here so if I've managed to attach a picture of my foot or a piece of mouldy cheese may I apologise profusely in advance- thanking you.

Well I see two problems.
1. You cropped of one side of her head so it looks lopsided.
2. When you shoot kids especially get down on their level instead of looking down on them.

My only problem is as mentioned in the previous post - part of her head is cropped. I have no problem with the level of the girl in the shot though, think it looks grand

Welcome and I agree with both comments by Don.

Does the child have a huge ear growing on one side of her head so you cropped it out?

If you stood a little taller above her I bet her eyes would roll over and more of the whites of her eyes would be visible.

Joking aside now -- :) she has gorgeous eyes and they would be best presented if her gaze was level and unless there is something unsightly about a persons appearance that needs to be cropped -- don't crop portraits is my rule.

Yes she had a ginourmous ear- how did you know? ;)
Yes I agree re the cropping-<<must step back- must step back...must step back>>

I took loads from sitting down and at her level too.
She was a wonderful little firecracker and did not want to keep still- but it makes for a more interesting experience.
Thanks a lot, I like you guys.....!

I got started shooting when my wife was expecting our first child so that kid had thousands of pictures shot of her. Whe got to the point I could not talk a candid shot of her. Whenever I had the camera in my hand she would stop and pose. I ended up getting a 500mm lens so she would not see me shooting.

Hi Z, welcome to the board.
I don't mind the crop, actually I kinda like it. It works under the gestalt principle and gives it a bit of an artsy feel. But I agree with the critique around the angle of your shot. To make a more compelling shot you have to introduce the viewer to a perspective not often seen. But all the other aspects of this image, the catchlights, the sharp eye focus, all looks great.
