Pigeon Shot on boardwalk

This was by far my favorite from my outing to Avila Beach. Any thoughts on it are much appreciated.

This is a great shot. A couple of suggestions if I may, I would have put the 2x4 on the lower horizontal third rather than throug the middle of the frame and zoomed out to give more room on the left and right edges. You can't get the pigeons to move closer, they are notoriously uncooperative and skittish models, but you can zoom out or change your camera position.

Below is a quick and dirty artist's misconception of what I am talking about

What Scott said. The birds are a great capture, they just need to be framed more carefully. Always better to leave a little more room that you can crop away when it's a photo you have to grab quickly than to not leave yourself enough room (says the guy who knows just how impatient birds are when posing).

That's a nice pic Sobersally, reminds me of a scene in the "Bolt" movie.

STM's reframing is great, look for the rule of thirds in his composition.

Sorry I couldn't resist. A little Microbiology humor (though admittedly rather esoteric)

It's a very good capture, but I agree with what has been said - stm gave good advice using the rule of thirds. If you apply that, it'll be a brilliant shot.
