which I am sure so many people on this forum have heard.


I have had so many people look at one of my pictures and say

wow... your camera takes awesome photos..

or

wow, your equipment must be so good to take such shots.


or how about..

oh,, you can take a picture (what the hay!)


I don't like the terms, amateur photographer, or semi-pro photographer...


After 40 years, I just consider myself a Photographer, not a pro photographer, because I do not do this as a full time living..


Do any of my prints sell, yes, do I teach photography, yes, but to say
semi-protographer sounds yucky. Like I am Semi Committed to photography.


maybe PartTime ProPHotographer,, but that sounds funny too.. like claiming
too much..

so..


Photographer ... that makes sense.. Like artist..


and then if someone is earning a living.. then Pro Photographer,, or Professional Artist.


Now the next debate... when can someone call themselves a Photographer..


laughs,, ok,,, my definition: when you have 10,000 hours.

i am glad to say i am leaving the "PHD" stage in photography and now at the learning stage.

When I owned a Camera Store back in the dark ages the PHD camera was one of our biggest sellers.
