I don't really know why I continue to enter my photos on these I don't seem to win/gain anything from it but I am persistent and refuse to give up maybe this will be the challenge I finally win. Anyway here is my first food entry. Thanks.

You gain knowledge with every shot and win the respect of your fellow photographers by putting up great shots like this and being persistant.

BTW, Nice shot! The lighting ,exposure and DoF is excellent!

Thanks Rick M. I try and it's just that I get discouraged from time to time but I tell my self to keep on shootin'. Thanks for the kind words about the pic. Have a good one and good luck with the challenge!

Learning photography is a long haul. Don't ever get discouraged. Believe me, for your own satisfaction, it's worth the trip. I've been doing this for over 40 years and I'm still learning stuff! :) Winning is great, but the primary purpose of these challenges is the learning experience. When you think about it, everyone wins from seeing others photos and how they took the shot, what light was used, exposure settings, etc. We all help each other here. That's what sets us apart from other photo web sites. :)

By the way......what IS that that you took a picture of? ;) It looks like some kind of crumble cake with a marangue on top.

That is a S'mores cookie bar that I made on Friday night and is now all gone. They consist of a cookie dough with grahm crackers on the bottom then a layer of melted chocolate chips and a layer of mini marshmallows then you use one of the burners that you would use for browning a merangue pie. DELICIOUS!!! Thanks

Here is my first entry:

Honey-mustard chicken with spinach pasta with basil pesto with wine sautéed mushrooms and a little touch of fresh grated parmesan:

The meal was planned more than the photo. I just sat to eat and thought… OH, this could be an entry. So, there is not enough DOF but the food was great.

OK, here is my first entry (might add more, don't know):

It's something that my parents concocted when I told them that there was a food photography competition. :D
Can't seem to get image uploading straight. :/ Looks like there's a lot of noise in the photo when there actually isn't.

To keep the Snickerdoodles from getting crunchy hard ( I like them that way...), Goldie puts them in a gallon ziplock bag, with a 1/2 slice of bread, and that keeps them softer for storage.

Smoked salmon on homemade Dakota bread. Salmon was brined overnight and smoked with apple wood. I am having trouble getting pictures before spousal unit eats it. Smoked some eggs too, but they really aren't very photogenic.

Here are two of my submissions for this fun event, both from my friends kitchen when we did a cooking party a few days ago.

This is not for judging. I don't believe any of you can compete with Cocada Pudding, so my unfair advantage would not be ethically correct. But, I just thought I'd share one of the fine meals I'm planning for this year's Easter Dinner menu. The turkey dinner at Christmas was excellent, but I want to try something different.

I haven't made my decision as yet, but this one is leading the pack. When I was married, my wife always made the choice. Now, I can have anything I want. :pride:

For a couple that cooks a lot, February has been a lot of rather boring stuff on a plate. I was just about to chomp into this at lunch when I saw the colors and thought, "The Monthly Assignment!!"

Entry #1: Eggs In A Basket

If you've ever watched "Moonstruck" you'll know that one of the best ways to deal with stale bread is to rip out the center, stick it in a pan with some butter, drop an egg in the center and fry them together, adding some peppers to top at the end. Olympia Dukakis chose some nice roasted reds, but I prefer some long hot Italians, fried with some fresh garlic. Yoke is just runny enough when you cut into it. Mmmmmmm.
