Jeff, a while back I told you the name of a little duck was Pied-eyed Grebe. It's really Pied-Billed Grebe. I was close.

I just want to thank everyone for your kind comments and to all of you that take the time to look at my pictures and click the like button. They are all very much appreciated and it encourages me to take more pictures. Thanks again, Jeff

Pat, I would like to say that I have had three digital Nikon cameras and I shoot 100% of the time on single point auto focus mode and have NEVER had it mess up. I have had pictures that were not as sharp as the should have been but the problem was due to me not getting the focus point where it needed to be. I NEVER focus manually because I have messed it up every time I tried.

Thanks Jeff... I also use single point for most stuff... manual only a couple times in low light where the lens could not do it..

Nice shots Jeff, sometimes overcast is better, certainly work well for you on these! I'd take overcast over sunny most of the time, less chance of blown out highlights.

This is another carving out of what was left of an oak tree from hurricane Katrina. There are nine or ten dauphins in this one carving. This is in the median of Hwy. 90 that runs along the coast in Mississippi. The Gulf of Mexico is just out of the frame to the right.
