Yeah, I'd definitely lower the exposure. It's a little too bright all over.
Maybe something like this would be better, yes? :)

Yep that exposure really makes a difference! Thank you.

I'm working in LR4 for the first time but I definitely prefer it for Black and White conversion, and initial editing :)

I absolutely agree with Jack's tweaks. It's just a hair bright and the face is a washed out. Otherwise I think it's an excellent photo.

LR is nice for B&W conversion, but there are more effective tools. I've got some tricks for doing it in PS/PSE that work nicely over the standard desaturation methods that I need to share (maybe later today - DONE!!), and Nik's Silver Efex Pro 2 is an awesome black and white tool.
