I spotted this while out looking for some White Pelicans to photograph. I flew up into the branches on the top of this tree and this Cardinal was there for about 2 or 3 seconds and then took off again so I only had time for one shot. This was taken handheld with my Nikon 70-200 and 2x teleconverter combo.

I just lucked up on getting this shot at all. Normally I don't shoot the smaller birds but this one happened to be bright red and caught my attention by flying and landing in these upper leafless branches. I pointed my lens at him and took one shot and he flew off again. I am surprised I got anything with the attempt. Having the 70-200 with the 2x TC really helps.

Very nice and sharp! What lens did you use on the last shot Jeff?

Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 70-200VR F2.8 and my Nikon 2x20E III teleconverter handheld

Corrected this to Nikon D7000 from Nikon D700. I had left off one zero.

I might add that this was taken at the 600mm equivalent. 200mm x 1.5 crop = 300mm and you double that with the 2x TC to get it to 600mm a FX equivalent. I had been sick all week and not gone out of the house until yesterday and took this around 1:00 PM in the afternoon.

My wife and I went for a ride yesterday and while we were out I spotted this rare, vary large colorful swan so I had to get a photo of it. It is approx. 6ft tall and 8ft in length. It is unusual to see abird this big, and with tattoos also.

This is another one of the large swans that I photographed yesterday. My wife and I stayed around for some time waiting to see if I could manage to get one of the swans in flight because I though that would be a spectacular shot but it never happened. LOL

These swans are about 6ft. tall and 5ft wide.
