This is another picture of a Brown Pelican with a reflection in the water. This is a different one than I posted earlier.

Thanks Kim and Barbara for your kind words, they are much appreciated. Here is something a little different for me. This bird was sitting on this sign near where I was shooting.

These a great! Checked out your site too, very cool. Im sure you've answered this already, but what lens do you typically use for these bird photos? Really great stuff.

Katie, thanks for checking out my photos here and on my site.

I typically use a Nikon 70-200VR F2.8 and sometimes add a Nikon 2x 20E III teleconverter. This combination gives me an effective range up to 600mm with the crop factor. This is the preferred combination that I use.

If I don't use the option above I use my Nikon 70-300VR lens and this gives me an effective range with the crop factor of 450mm.

Jeff, were you on Gator Boys last night? I missed the first 1/2 hour. It's on again at 5am tomorrow. Should I watch it?

No I wasn't on the show and none of the family were either. I was shooting from next to the staff that was taping the show so I probably won't be on any of them myself. I suspect that the family might be in the up coming episodes. I would like to say that Paul, Jimmy, Tre, and the rest of the staff act just the same off camera as they do on TV. They are very friendly and like to have fun.

with the all blue background, the white Egret and his shadow in the water, I almost did not even see the ducks! :)

Great shot Jeff... is the background natural (all water) or processed...?

Thanks Pat, the background is natural and is water. This is a very small little island out in the middle of a marsh.
