I'm a small town gal who was an executive/corporate secretary for 26 years, during which time I created vast perennnial gardens that subsequently led me to leave my final secretarial position of 20 years at a local hospital, obtain a nursery license and run a perennial plant business for the next 12 years. I've since closed the business, am in the process of down-sizing the gardens and now find myself spending inordinate amounts of time following live music, mostly the Blues, playing tennis and any other "fun" stuff that comes my way, all the while photographing everything and anything. While my grandchildren were young, they were my prized subjects. Of course, now they're not so cooperative. I have thousands of photos of my gardens but none I would call "winners." I find myself frustrated quite often as I currently spend a lot of time shooting live bands in very difficult lighting situations...low light venues with crazy back lights and strobes, moving subjects, etc. I recently joined our local photography club but haven't participated in anything yet. I took lessons from a pro back in the '80's when I was shooting with a Minolta Maxuum, but have yet to find someone locally to help me with my Nikon 3100. I bought from our local camera shop thinking I'd have good one-on-one help, and also had a promise of a few lessons. Unfortunately, they went out of business before I had an opportunity to collect. My profile pic is a self-portrait taken this past Summer. I'm very much looking forward to getting to know other Nikon shooters! I have tried at least 20 times to add my Camera & miscellaneous equipment below but it will not allow me to do so.
