im going to a NASCAR race tomorrow and im taking my nikon d3100. there will be races at night and during the day i guess. any suggestions on what settings to use for both day and night?

hey guys, any advice on taking action pictures at night?? my main focus is killer whales and dolphins. my 2nd question is how to take action pictures late afternoon when it's cloudy outside?
