    No Linux tools by Nikon

    It is good that some members already use linux. I am using Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 (plan to go to 24.04) in my laptop. I also have a Raspberry Pi 5 with Ubuntu Core planning to setup a selfhosting app (like https://piwigo.org/) to save there some photos (no need to rent space in a cloud provider)

    Yeah. Compared to P1000, the max zoom of Z5 + 24-70mm lens, might not even considered a zoom ;) . Thought P1000 sensor is not only smaller the the full format cameras, but also smaller than the cropped ones. I have both for different reasons

    Unfortunately there are no Linux tools by Nikon for its cameras, as far as I have searched. Does anybody know the reason for this limitation? Yet linux distributions have several applications for all cameras. Also, opensource libraries are available on the net. I have already started to list...

    I also have a Nikon P1000 which is less equipped in therms of sensor size, megapixels, lens, etc, BUT has a lot of zoom. On Wednesday when I went to test Z5 I felt very limited in terms of viewing and capturing something far from me. I will definitely need a telephoto, at a later time.
