I am a Nikon D7100 user and am looking for some longer glass. I have done a ton of research but was wondering if anyone had opinions on the Tamron 150-600mm and the older Nikon AF 80-400D lens. I shoot mostly wildlife (birds) and sports. Thanks for the advice.

I am a hobbiest who wants to upgrade from my very slow 55-300mm. I have been reading article after article about prime vs zoom lenses and I am leaning towards the 300mm but want to make sure that it is worth the extra $600. Thanks!
