How do I get the actual iso number to display in Auto Iso mode?

I just got my d500 and I've been looking for an answer to this and can't find it so I thought I'd ask here. I have my ISO set to auto ISO with a maximum value. I noticed when I take a picture it does not show the iso value in the viewfinder it just shows the word Auto. Is there a way to get this where it shows the value of the iso that it is shooting? Thank you PS, I went into menu D3 and enabled show ISO but it did not seem to work​

I don't know how the the D810 and the D500 compare but when I'm on auto-ISO my D810 displays the actual ISO in both the live-view screen and the Info screen. On my menu, option D8 "ISO Display and Adjustment" is where I can turn it On/Off in the viewfinder and on the top LCD display. This is pre-actuation...

In post actuation, of course it displays as part of the EXIF data that gets displayed in the image preview...

There's a setting on Nikon cameras that affects the action of how buttons work. One setting causes the action to toggle ON, and a second press toggles OFF... The other setting only toggles On and when you release, it toggles back Off

Joey, I don't have a D500 but came across this link that explains how to show the ISO sensitivity. But when you half press the shutter, the number will change to show the remaining number of shots in the buffer.

Whether it works, I don't know since I don't have that body.

CUSTOM SETTING MENU -> d Shooting/display -> d3 ISO display -> Show ISO sensitivity

When you activate the camera it will show the ISO, bottom right. You can press almost any button and it will still display ISO. But while you half-press the shutter release, the display will change to show shots remaining in the buffer, it will revert back to ISO when you release the shutter button.

If you use AF-ON, it will still show the ISO value while you press that. Only the half-press of the shutter button will change to shots remaining in the buffer.

Note that "shots remaining" are for the actual buffer, not the "200 continuous" remaining shots, which is attained because the buffer is written to the cards so fast

On my D810 the Menu option is F10 -- "Release Button to use Dial"... Yours may not be F10 but the title should be the same if assigned to a different Menu slot

I just double checked and the feature is at F8 on my D300 and F6 on my D200... so the feature has been around for quite a long time.
