I've been looking at these for a while, so I finally broke down and got one. I opted for the X2 instead of the X4 which is 70 dollars more. These are all low profile filters, so it will be nice on a wide angle with no vignetting. Reading a lot of positive reviews on various forums and sites. It's about as color neutral as you're going to get.

When you receive it, can you let us know if it accepts a front lens cap? I bought a slim circular polarizer which doesn't hold a cap, and that just annoys me. Unfortunately not all descriptions list info such as that. I like how slim this one you posted is though.

Just came in the mail. Good news @hark. The lens cap fits nice and snug. I haven't tried it out yet but I'll go out later and shoot a few sunset shots. I'm very happy with the packaging. It looks very professional. Also comes with a nice lens cloth.

Let us know if it's as good as they say it is! It sounds like a good piece of gear! How did you decide between the X2 and the X4: price alone?

I just got back from taking some sunset pics with it. It does what it's design to do. Slows your shutter speed without any added color cast.

It was a decision made by price alone. As I know that I don't need it very often.

time to hit the books . . .

while I buy magazines from time to time, and my son gave me a gifts subscription to Popular Photography last year for Christmas (going to ask for a different mag next year), I do not have too many books. Picked this one up today.

Had a dust bunny I could not get rid of with the blower...

It is now gone. Bought this on Photography Life... Great tool! Money well spent.

After much contemplating I decided to stick to DX and my new D500 has now arrived.
Now the journey of getting to know the incredible features and capabilities of this camera starts.
i'm excited.

I'm green... with envy!!

So the home HP Wifi All-In-One printer is acting flakey. Took the opportunity to update to the Canon Pixma Pro-10 today at my local camera shop. $100 after rebate, includes two packs of OEM matte paper :)
Thank you Procam of Livonia :)

I see $699 with a $100 rebate. Tell me how you got it for just $100, please!

I do not have too many books. Picked this one up today.

Have you ever looked at Picture Perfect Practice by Roberto Valenzuela? It teaches excellent concepts for composition but uses wedding photos as the illustrations. The real learning comes from taking the concepts and applying them to your own subjects. A few Amazon reviewers didn't give it high scores simply because it used wedding photos. Some people just like to go out and try to replicate the same photo they see. The problem with doing that is a person is simply learning by rote. With this book, you take the concepts and apply them to your own style of photography. And by doing so, you wind up owning the concepts that are taught rather than just going out and replicating a photo that someone else took (rote).

I have a teaching degree (music) and had to learn how to teach. This book is FANTASTIC and will say it is the best book I've come across that teaches the basics of composition. And at the end of each chapter, there are assignments where you take your own photos using the concepts that are taught.
