After seeing a Goldfinch in the field next door, I bought a Nyger Seed Feeder (Nyger Seed is the favourite food of the Goldfinch) and they soon came visiting in their numbers. It's amazing how small these birds are and I think they are possible the best looking bird the UK has to offer.

I'm chuffed that they are now visiting the garden.

I think they're up there in the ranking but I prefer Bullfinches. I think Kingfishers would win the popularity contest though. Cool birds to have coming to your garden.

Yes, Bullfinches are also awesome. We had some in the garden last year, but only saw them once and never since. Of course, the Kingfisher will always be at the top of the tree with most of the public. Yet another fantastic looking bird. I've got a hide day later in the year booked to photograph Kingfishers, so hopefully will get some good shots.

There's a bird hide near me that I've only been to twice but the second time was at dawn and a kingfisher showed up but not close enough to get a usable photo unfortunately. Hopefully you'll have more luck than me. I'll be heading back out to see if it'll come to a closer perch next time.
