What hobbies do you have

What hobbies do you enjoy doing in your spare time.

I like photography and cycling, when I'm not at work, I will take the camera with me and go on a bike ride, or if I know its going to be a clear sky,
then try and get a sunset photo.

I also like editing pictures on the computer using lightroom, I try and keep it to 10 pictures or less, because as you know it can be very time consuming.

Not the best pictures, but my bikes.

I like to bike, hike, backpack and camp.
I am a retired programmer so I like to program, especially embedded and dabble in electronics.
Also done construction in one form or another most of my life so I like woodworking, although I don't have a shop presently to work in or tools to do any significant projects.

But photography is my passion.

Hobbies... YES! LOTS!

I love to wear a kilt and participate in Highland Heavy Athletics (otherwise known as Scottish Games), so I often get to perpetuate the myth of the bald giant that most people know as me.

I'm also an avid reader, computer gamer and disc golfer, ride motorcycles and put time into the family heirloom... a sweet old Camaro. I've also started dabbling in re-learning "survival" skills, so I can often be found out and about in wilder areas.

In other words, I don't often have an idle mind, but I *DO* often suffer from ADD. ;)

Cold War reenactment.

Each spring I get together with a hundred or so fellow enthusiasts, down in Oklahoma, and we fight World War III. The event is called Operation East Wind, and it's a nine day long recreation of life in a military uniform. Some guys are airsoft players, some own military vehicles, others are just history/adventure buffs. It's extremely demanding and a ton of good times. We say this is the only event like it that can cause PTSD.

I have a full letterpress shop (my old daily work). I research American silversmiths and their work (site) and collect when I can. I also fiddle about at the local college's horticulture department, maintaining the mother plant collection and various databases.

Photography is my main hobby. I dabble at attempting to play (ie make noise on a) guitar, I teach/train traditional martial arts, and I enjoy video games (still). I also enjoy reading novels.

It's almost easier to list what is not a hobby. Ha! The list is long and it varies from time to time in the amount of participation.
Ham Radio
Photography
Hunting
Blackpowder/muzzleloading competition (Mountain Man Rendezvous)
RC Airplane flying
Welding
Construction & Mechanics projects (Currently finishing my house construction project which was nearly a solo venture)
Gardening
Geocaching
Biking (just started back after many years)
Weightlifting (An old hobby that has slid by the wayside lately)
Beekeeping
Camping

Problem is which one to play with each day. Ha!

4 Kids, enough said.
LOL...

Besides the obvious one I also pistol shoot and trail-hike (though I don't mean to imply I'm a hardcore "backpacker" or anything of that sort), and I like to Geocache so the last two sort conveniently dove-tail.

Since I'm sure someone will ask, geocaching is a sort of high-tech treasure hunt using a hand-held GPS unit and a website. People hide containers (called a "geocaches") of different sizes all over the world and your job is to find a particular container with the help of your GPS. Once you do, you sign the log-book it contains as proof of your find and then post the find on the community website. If the container is large enough there is often fun stuff inside you can take with you (called "swag" or "tradeables") but if you take swag out of a cache, you have to leave some swag inside (this is called "trading"). Containers are often camouflaged and can range from super-easy to find to insanely difficult. The lengths people will go to camo' a cache never ceases to amaze me... It might sound silly but it's amazingly fun and more than a little addictive (you've been warned). Geocaching is a very family friendly activity as well.

Horoscope Fish, what is Geocaching? Ha! Can I say me too? I also could add to my list shooting... pistol, rifle, BP (rifle & pistol, flintlock and percussion cap, no inlines for me). And the list goes on....................................................

Besides photography, I had a drum set for a few years and played out my frustrations. I then picked up a metal detector and go to older homes a few times during the summer. I find a lot of different things. The silver and gold I find pays for some of my NAS.

I do geocaching as well. Hiking, strictly small time.Which got me started in walking stick collecting. Watch collecting, cameras, fishing, way too many poles and lures. I collect shot glasses and pewter ware. Mostly steins and mugs. Now that the kids are mostly out of the house the wife and I travel, mostly weekend trips with two larger vacations a year.

I combine my photography with birding although I am an amateur at both. I also help my son collect PEZ. He moved out 10 years ago but we still keep it at our house as he has no room for it (we have over 2000 ) in his 2 bedroom apt. We go to PEZ Convention (yes they do exist) with him every year and have even been to the PEZ factory in CT.

Does eating, watching the History Channel and sleeping count. I am a PRO at all of those.
