Had a fun day today in between rain showers and errands. Doing quite a bit of trial and error with Luminance HDR processing. Much better results IMHO today over yesterday. Still lots to learn. Here's a couple and I posted up some more in the HDR thread.

I bought some of Jimmy McIntyres tutorials on HDR using luminence masks but haven't had the time to sit down and give it a really good try. I was hoping the master masks this year but then I decided to do the 365, and that put paid to THAT idea, so it will now be next years goal :D

These are good :D I like the top one best as I tend to like the more natural look with landscapes, but that is the ONLY reason :D

A day of catching up for me and what fun it has been.
Actually I enjoy falling behind sometimes as it is a pleasure to take some time to go through a single thread and reconnect with that guy/gal's technique.
Some great shots here Dave - especially the landscape ones

Thank you very much. I really appreciate the comments and feedback from you both!
@Lawrence; I find myself behind in so many of the 365s that I want to follow. It's always fun catching up though. I've definitely had fun watching yours transform over the course of the year.
@Vixen; I can relate to how trying to keep up with the daily posting of a 365 pic had really changed my priority as well. Just getting that shot became more important than focusing on one type of shooting or an extended stint of learning specific techniques. I hope the 52 shot challenge alleviates some of that pressure (even though it's self-imposed).
I'm still flying blind with Luminance until I get a chance to really read more and also do some tutorial review. Seems to be giving pretty decent results for having just guessed at settings. LoL.

I'm interested in how you find this setup. Is it good for moving birds?

Sorry for the slow response, V! I'm hoping this new ball head setup will be pretty usefull for BIF. I'm already loving the free ranging, yet secure, movement it allows. I haven't had any time to field test it around the lake yet, but hope to soon. I'm also Looking to add a monopod with ball head for even more flexibility in where I can set up for pictures. Both systems should really improve the shot quality as long as I can learn how to use them properly. That; and the addition of a Sigma 500mm APO lens, should be some fun learning tools!!

Please let me know because I was wondering if it was worth me getting a ball head for my tripod for this use. I have a monopod and rarely use it. For me at least I am not sure that a monopod with ball head would work, but a tripod probably would :D
