Mine was 30 years old and would have still been ok but the original builder put in cheap builder grade equipment. The problem came when the main breaker went out and the company that made it is not longer in business. And unlike now they were not standardized. So replace all of it and be done with it. As far as being outside they will last just as long. Weather was not the problem here.

I agree, Don. Mine's outside just like yours, but your weather is fairly moderate most of the year so there wouldn't be any adverse affects.

Depending on where fotojack lives, Canada can get some nasty weather, freezing cold, ice, etc. and no doubt their buildings codes take those conditions into consideration. If I lived up there I would enclose it.

You have GOT to be kidding me! Your breaker panel is outside??? No wonder they go bad! In Canada, all breaker panels are inside the house!

I was thinking the same thing. I never heard of a breaker box being on the outside. I would think that would be a safety hazard.

Always been that way here. We don't have the extreme weather like you do. The boxes are weather sealed. Also if there is a problem and a fire starts in the box it is outside and not in a closet in the house.
