How do I use a SB910 to fire a third party flash that is only JUST a flash?

Possibly depends on what flash?
In general, the third party flash can use an optical slave trigger, or a PC sync cord, or a radio trigger. You can add inexpensive Ebay accessories to its foot to add these if necessary. See Optical slave triggers for speedlights about slaves.
So, you can trigger the third party flash any way you can (above). Then the SB-910 can be manual flash in its SU-4 mode, and it will be triggered too.
If you might be hoping for TTL flash mode, forget that.
All flashes in the system need to be Manual flash mode.
