Hi. I have a d3100, but cannot seem to get the fill flash to fire. I have checked the manual and tried various settings without success. Can anyone please help?

On the d3100 fill flash is available in p,s,m,a modes. The flash must be raised manually. Shutter speed would also need to be between 1/60 and 1/200. What mode were you using and what settings? Is the problem only with fill?

In the internal "camera" menu, are the built-in flash options Manual and Full Power selected? If not, you might try setting it on Manual and full power to see if you can force it to flash just to make sure the flash isn't broken. Just make sure the camera shooting mode is in Manual.
