If you want to understand the AF-L/AE-L button this article from Photography Life would be a good place to start.hi guys
i'm about to learn how to use AF on button in my D3300, search all the articles i can get and all the tutorial videos on youtube
any good tips, will be so much appreciated
There are some good user comments near the end of the article Horoscope linked regarding the d3200. Sounds like they coded release priority for use with the af-on button even the there is no menu item specifically for turning on release prioity. Hopefully they did this for the d3300 as well.I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can fully utilize this technique on the d3300. I know I cannot on the d3100. The technique requires that the camera be set for 'release priority'. That means the camera is allowed to snap a shot even when not in focus. Many of the benefits of the technique require this. I'm talking situations where you focus with the back button, release the back button, and recompose the shot. Easy enough to test, with back button set up, see if you can take an out of focus shot. If you cannot release the shutter with the focus point falling on something not in focus, you wont get full benefit from this technique.
