Not much action in here

Anyone still using a Df on a regular basis? I really like the nostalgic look of this body, wish I had the $ to throw at a toy.

You know, others can laugh, but I'm with you I like the camera. Just dont really need it. I like the retro look and I am not a Hipster. (LOL)

Hello,
I like it but there is no doubt that it is over priced big time. I would like to buy it but there is more bang for bucks in other cameras.

I know people that buy cars for toys, so if the Df pleases you and you can afford it without sacrificing something else important to you, then I say why the hell not? The safe (where we keep our money) never follows the Hearst.

Not sure about you but I plan to live forever. So far I have achieved my goal.

What exactly (aside from looks) is there not to like about the camera?
No Video? Really... I mean how many of us would actually use this feature? Just because it's offered does not necessarily mean that you are going to go out of your way to use it. Personally a video camera would make much better use of this than a DSLR.
High ISO?
Same sensor as D4?

i'm really interested in this camera for the sensor.

I'm not bothered about shooting video.

I'm not bothered about the looks or controls. Sure its a bit more fiddly than a regular D600/700/800 etc..

but the fact its got a D4 sensor in it, and it costs a lot less, makes me wonder if its like new D700 (i.e. top sensor in small body. ok its got more compromises, but from a picture quality perspective, its pretty good)

I like the low light higher ISO performance.

A friend of a friend of mine is a pro photographer, he does studio/portrait stuff, and uses a D800 as his workhorse. He bought a DF when they came out, but sold it soon after as he didn't like it. Can't give you specifics of exactly why tho

I'm a hobbyist at best. I can afford to own a dslr and a couple of lenses at any given time. If something new comes in, something old had t be sold to make financial room. I've moved from micro 4/3 to full frame and from a d700 to a df and it's a lot of fun to shoot. And I get some wonderful pictures from it.

A pro or more serious hobbyist may have a different set of needs entirely and this is certainly a niche camera. But it's a lot of fun.

You're having fun with it, getting images you like, that's all that matters. Happy days:D

First time posting here - I bought a Df around 6 weeks ago having fallen in love with one at the UK Photo Show.

I've shot Fuji for the past five years and really love the output of the files and find it much more responsive than my X-Pro2. Just got to get used to it!

Definately a "Marmite" camera but I love the tactile controls and retro look that draws less attention than a digital DSLR - you can get great quality used versions for a good price.

I certainly am - I have persevered for a long time with the Fuji's and enjoyed them but alas have become increasingly disenchanted with the focus for sports / wildlife etc and despite what you read there is still some blackout........enough, I am trading it in and getting a D500 kit to go with the DF.
Still keeping my Fuji X100s and X70 but the rest is going so looking forward to the D500.

I recently bought one brand new as a lightweight alternative to my digital medium format camera system I use for work.

The Df is nice and lightweight and still packs a great sensor albeit with a low pixel count, which actually is nice when using older Ai-S lenses. The 16 megapixels is still more than what I'd get out of a Kodak Portra 400 scan with my Nikon Coolscan 4000, sur that gives me a 24 megapixel file but the grain diminishes it.

All in all I really like the camera and am amazed not more people shoot it.
