Heck yeah!! Buy grey, get a third-party warranty (if you think you need one) and you wind up the best of both worlds: a great deal on your camera and a warranty that's actually worth having.

The $600 you'll be saving would go a long way toward some really superb glass...
...
You don't make it easy! I'm hoping to buy digital in the spring, and I'm torn between the two. I would love to skip DX, but I'm not sure if I should. One upside is that I could continue to buy AI-S lenses for my FE2, and some D, and they would all work on the D750. That sounds like a good plan...I agree with buying gray, but $600 isn't even close to what you'll need for a decent arsenal of great glass. It's really an expensive transition from DX to FX. I'm not saying it's not worth it, only carefully scrutinize your goals. If I were just starting out, I'd definitely buy the D750, and great glass. I'd skip DX completely. That being said the D7100 is stellar and I'm sure the D7200 is also.

If I bought the D7200, I think I would just avoid DX lenses altogether. Since I have the FE2, and will buy an F100 soon, as well as an F4, and maybe an F5 someday, and I really want a D750 or whatever is the latest of that caliber when I have the money, why buy DX lenses?Hate to muddy the waters but they will also work fine on a D7100:culpability:.
Oh I didn't mean to imply it would buy anything close to an "arsenal"...I agree with buying gray, but $600 isn't even close to what you'll need for a decent arsenal of great glass.
I could have bought it gray a long time ago for that price. I chose not to.
You could probably get 3 of the Nikon D bits for FX in my kit for $600, I know I did.....for sure you could find a 50 F1.4 AF D and a 35-70 F2.8 AF D for $600
I'm beginning to see that.Just seeing your updated kit list @Blacktop sorry to poach the thread but nice! D glass rules! I would love to find that 20 at a less than ridiculous price!
Paid $200 for my 35-70 moved quick on craigslist - bought from a local wedding pro who couldn't dial in the push pull. Old school me on the other hand dialed it right in.
@RocketCowboy I love it true but I really like your F4 modern pair better!
You have a sweet kit!
