On/Off switch stiff?

Should the on/off switch on a Nikon D90 be fairly stiff? It has a shutter count of 8671. Maybe it's me being a wimp. Also, how do I set the face recognition autofocus?

Cheers

I think the switches are fairly stiff, it stops you accidentally switching your camera on / off. The question is how stiff is stiff? I would imagine all models have the same stiffness, so visit a shop and see what the switches are like on the display Nikons. If you are still worried, take it to a shop and ask them for an opinion - I don't know how much a replacement switch would cost, but it could be more economical long term to get a 2nd hand D90 with lower shutter count than send a camera away to have the switch replaced.

I think that I am worrying for nothing. My wife says that there is nothing wrong with it and I am definitely a wimp. I bought the camera from mpbphotographic and came with a six months warranty so if anything goes wrong they will sort it out. It is obviously better to be on the stiff side than flopping about.

Thanks for your response

My D90 definitely has a much stiffer switch than my D40X does. It also doesn't "click" into the on position as resolutely either. In fact sometimes I think I should it off and back on because I feels like it's 1/2 way between off and on.

Yes, my wife's D3000 is much easier to switch on and off. I am getting used to the D90 now though, so I think it is supposed to be stiff.
