Well I broke down and bought myself a D90! Lol I just couldn't resist after hearing all the talk about what a great workhorse of a camera it was! :D
I already have a 70-300mm AF to put on it, and a battery grip that I hope works out for it! Lol :D
I'm eagerly waiting for it and my battery grip to be delivered, sometime next week I hope!

Anyway I thought I'd give a shout out to all my fellow D90 users! Lol :D

Though I haven't had either model before and I'm not exactly a pro, I'll try to do that as best as I can for you my friend! Lol :D

Thanks Jack! Nope no manual! Lol. But I did download one and will try to read it! Lol :D
But knowing me I will have to reread pieces of it over again as needed! I try to look up answers to my questions before I post them here, though as you know I'm not afraid to ask questions! Lol ;)
Bill...nice to hear you're getting the D90. :) And remember.....read the manual! ;) Hope it comes with one! lol :)

Congrats Bill! But i am quite confused though ;)
You also do have the D5100 and the D3100 ??
Aren't these too many similar cameras?

Too many? Too many? Hey WhiteLight doesn't have the NAS, get the spy! Lol ;)

They are similar but still pretty different in their strong points. :D

Thanks my friend! I've heard a lot of great things about this model since I've been here, and it sounded fun to use too! :D

Click on my gallery link in my signature and have a look at my "Mallorca" gallery, all shots were made with the D90 and 18-200.

I'm sure you're aware of this, but you can download a PDF version of the manual from the Nikon site. Congratulations on your new pickup.

I'm so excited right now! I have my D90 and it seems a lot better than my other Nikon's in some ways! I mean that you have faster control over shots, and it feels like it is much solider construction! You know, better quality in how it was made! I put a meike battery grip on it, and it feels good, but I'm disappointed in the grip as far as battery life goes. The one I got only had one battery tray and it only holds one Nikon d90 battery, and it looks like you can store a spare memory card in there with it.
The camera is in excellent condition, with very little wear if at all! I'm waiting for the SanDisk 8GB Extreme Pro 8 GB SDHC UHS-I Cards that I bought to be delivered. I bought three of them just in case I might need extras.
If I was to recommend a Nikon for someone's first dslr, I believe I would strongly recommend the D90 as long as they are still making them. You can feel the quality of it in your hands.
Now I'm just starting to use my D5100 and my D90 and I can't say I've used the D3100 to it's top ability.
So I'm not qualified to to do a real comparison between the D90 and the D5100. But I can say that so far I like the D90 a lot better than the D5100, to carry around taking shots with. From what I've heard I think the owners of the D7100 would be able to understand what I mean by the feel of it. It feels heaver, has two command dials, and the LCD screen on the top of it to see and adjust your settings fast and easy. Well at least easy once I get use to it anyway! Lol :D
Now don't get me wrong. I won't be throwing away my D5100 just because I like the D90 better! Lol I think my D5100 will work awesome for macro shots, or any other type of shooting I might want to do. But I will be primarily using my D5100 for macro, and other shots I'm wanting higher mps for.
But I think I'll be using my D90 for my main carry around DSLR.:D

This is the best I can give you on that comparison between the D90 and the D5100 so far. It will be a very long time before I'm experienced enough with them before I could even start thinking about doing a serious
comparison.:)

Glad you are enjoying the D90... in time you will even put the 5100 on the back burner because of how nice the D90 is to handle. If and when you upgrade the D7000 feels ever so slightly better in terms of feel and in hand comfort.

The D3XXX and D5XXX bodies are just a tad too small and you feel like getting cramps without any grips... however when you start getting into video... the D5100 would win over the D90..

Thanks! Actually my next upgrade or two is already mostly planned out. Lol I figure I might buy either the D300s or the D700 , then the D4, unless I just skip to the D4 or it's replacement. It will all depend on finances and the opportunity. But the D4 or it's replacement is my goal. So it may take a long time. Lol :) But I am going for full frame in the long run. :D
