Put my Tamron 24-70mm lens on my new Nikon d850 and I am getting only black and white

It is just on the preview on the back of the camera. When I imported the file they were in color in Lightroom. I have tried different lenses and am getting the same result. I am using the sd card because the xcd card has not yet arrived. would that make a difference?

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Since I don't own either the D850 or any Tamron lenses, I can't help you out, but I am sure someone will be along shortly to help you out. However, I am quite sure the xcd card would not make any difference.

All of the images are coming out black and white? It does not happen with my Nikon lens, what am I doing wrong?

I guess you have selected Monochrome from the Picture Control menu. See pages 175-176 in user manual.

Picture controls don't affect the raw data, they manipulate JPEG files and the preview image. Third party raw developers (including Lightroom) don't honor the Picture Control settings embedded in the raw file and thus show the full color image.

Since your second post indicates it's happening with different lenses, then it sounds like a camera setting as was mentioned above. It wouldn't have anything to do with the type of card you are using. Check out the camera settings and see if something was accidentally changed. :)

A lot of times it’s an accidental push rather than intentional, but glad it’s sorted regardless!

And welcome to Nikonites!!!

That worked! Thank you! Don’t even remember touching that menu since I only shoot RAW

Glad you were able to fix it. The thing is maybe you never went into the menu to change it. One time when I was taking photos during a theater production, I accidentally hit the wrong buttons and wound up changing from RAW+jpeg Fine to Jpeg Basic. :hurt: No RAW at all. :( It was completely dark, and I was trying to change my ISO by pressing the button on the back and using the wheel on the back. The thing is the ISO button was located in a different place than it is on another body. So it's possible you went to change a setting by using a button and a wheel and accidentally made this change...I don't know for sure though. All I know is there are LOTS of shortcuts to bypass the menus. ;)
