D800 Lens Issue
So lately I have been having an issue with my D800 and my Nikon ED AF Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 D lens. Unless I apply upward pressure to the bottom of the lens, the camera doesn't want to read it. The lens works perfectly on my D700, F4 & F5. I have attempted to clean the lens connector tabs on the camera, but it still giving me issues. All of my other lenses work perfectly on this camera. Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks in advance!

In addition to the tabs on the camera clean the mount also clean the contacts on the lens and the base plate on the lens. If you have a correct fitting screw driver check the screws on the lens base.

I was going to say to check the screws for tightness, but Needa beat me to it! The "correct fitting screwdriver" that he mentioned is a JIS (Japanese Industrial Screw) type "phillips" screwdriver, it is not actually a phillips, and JIS are not easy to find. I tried to find them last year, and many will pop up in searches, but they are not proper JIS screwdrivers, so you can somewhat easily strip out the heads. If anyone is interested, these are what I bought: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If I remember right, I only found 2 or 3 that were proper.

I worked for Fujitsu/Amdahl Corp. for 33 years, and know JIS screwdrivers very well. Not only are they made different than Philips screwdrivers, the screws that were used in ALL of Fujitsu servers and Amdahl mainframes seemed to be made out of very soft metal (like brass) that even the JIS screwdrivers would strip the heads out of. Take Rob’s advice and get the proper screwdrivers before you attempt repairs on ANY piece of equipment manufactured in Japan.

Pictures from 1966-1970 during my time in the Army. Not much storage space which necessitated SEVERELY reduced file sizes so I could fit them all on the site.
