Hello! New to the photography game; just purchased the D7500 wiith AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 G ED VR Lens. I will be using it to take pictures & video of indoor ice hockey and looking for suggestions on settings to get started in the right direction. From what I have read, this is not the most ideal lens for hockey, but for now it is what I have to work with.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum, as you say not the most ideal lens for your subject, just don't let a bit of noise get you down if you have to use high ISOs.

I don't think this lens will make you very happy inside an arena. A 2.8 lens is a must for this situation. You might think the arena is bright enough, but in reality it's not. You also will want to watch for flickering sodium lights. Lots of good reading material to cover this on the net.

Most arenas here are now LED lights my last company installed them in lots of arenas around Toronto huge difference from the old HID lights
