Half the fun of getting a new body is going through every menu setting, reading the options, researching online, then choosing what you want. It's also the fastest way to learn about the camera.
The one thing I do suggest is BBF. Back Button Focus.

Thanks for your replies Nikonites. Horoscope Fish, thanks. I used about 80% of the settings suggested. I set up my D7100 with recommended settings and over time I tweaked them to my needs.
