Hi all,
there are times when I click the shutter button but nothing happens.
So far these are some of the reasons I have found
1. Lens for a reason is not good attached. Sometimes I have found my lenses being slightly turned and thus camera not being able to fire
2. The buffer is full (I am not sure about this one actually)

What other reasons you have found that made the camera to not shoot when you press the shutter button.
Regards
Alex

Focus priority setting. If your lens doesn't obtain focus the shutter will not fire. (Depending on how you have your menu options set up)

I agree with Walt... It might well be the focus priority setting. But I did see a post a while back where the lens did not lock in because the person held the lens release down as they were installing the lens and they went past lock and the camera would not work.

If you cannot find the menu setting for shutter priority youtube probably has a video on it. I think I watch a ton of youtube when I got my D7200. Bought a handbook too.

My biggest problem was with the lens not being successfully locked.
Did you ever had problems not firing when buffer was full?

If the lens is not seating properly it needs looking into, two options one is your not mounting it correctly or a fault, the first you need to sort out the second its a repair job, lens or body,i will admit i never had my D750 for long but i cant remember ever filling the buffer,as Danno said slow down maybe, unless of course you have a very slow card.

You dont say what your focus setting was if its focus priority then it could be you have not gained focus so it will not fire.
