Battery drain in D750?

Hi all,

I have the weirdest problem with my D750*. When I put a battery in the camera's battery slot it will drain in a matter of minutes (sometimes even faster) as soon as the camera is turned on.
Last week everything worked fine as usual, both with and without battery grip. The camera has not been dropped, not exposed to water/humidity nor any other extra ordinary circumstances.

I have tried different batteries (both Nikon an other brands) - same result.
I have tried carefully wiping the battery connectors on battery and in the camera's battery slot with a dry soft toothbrush - no change.
I have tried with different lenses and without lenses - same result.
I have tried using the battery grip both with battery in the camera and only in the grip. Also tried with AA batteries in battery grip. - same result.

Anyone ever heard about this problem??
Any suggestions on solutions?

*The camera's firmware is up to date and the camera was at Nikon in June for the shutter service.

Just so I'm clear, you're saying this battery drain happens with a battery in the camera body only? No grip, just a fully charged battery in the camera body... BOOM... Battery drains within minutes even without being turned on. Is that correct?

Well, it gets drained only when camera is turned on. If on "OFF" the battery is intact with power.
And it happens with battery only in camera, and also when using battery grip with using either Nikon battery or AA batteries ( again with empty or full in-camera battery slot).
So what I can deduct it can't be the battery connector in the cameras battery slot...

I tried 6 different batteries and also a pack of AA batteries. The AA's are brand new the others are recharged with 2 different chargers.

So can the camera read the batteries wrong and find them empty?

I can't being to fathom how the camera body could be discharging that much juice in that short a period of time... I can only suggest you take it to a professional or send it back to the Nikon Mother Ship for evaluation. I've heard of third-party battery grips draining batteries quickly, but nowhere near that quickly and certainly not the D750 doing so itself.

Hopefully someone has a better suggestion because I'm baffled.

Sound like you covered the not charged completely option.

Try looking for "battery info" under the wrench menu. See what age your battery is showing and if the charge percentage matches what you're thinking (ex. Fully charged battery showing 100%) maybe it'll tell you something worthwhile.

Yeah, I will try that to see if the readings are any different..

You asked this question on another site but failed to answer the last critical question in the diagnoses..which was "when the two minute discharge in the camera is over how long does it take it to recharge ...should be 1hr + . If not then the battery internal protection circuit has cut in .
