Ive just purchased a D7200, having upgraded from a D3400. Its a lovely camera to use & I'm just getting into the features of the unit.

Are there any hints or tips anyone would care to pass on, no matter how small!

Thanks :)

If you are not thoroughly familiar with the basics of exposure, get yourself there (easy). Otherwise, just get comfortable with all the new external controls you have. When I got my d7000 way back when, I played with it in front of the tv at night. It helps getting the fingers comfortable and finding things without thinking. Being a tech guy, I also enjoyed going through the menus line by line and trying to understand each item. As situations came up, I was able to recall that I saw something about that in a menu somewhere, haha. Another thing I did that might be a little extreme, I reset the camera often in the early weeks. Helped me to learn to find the settings that were important to me. I found the little help blips from pressing the '?' button reasonably useful.

There are so many benefits when you make this jump, I moved from the 3200 to a 7200. I bought David Busch`s book on the D7200. He goes through all the menus step by step with his recommendations. That book helped me a lot. I just bought another when I bought my Z6.

I wish you well with the new camera. I found it took several charges on the batteries to get the battery life up in the 1000 shots range. I attributed that to my fiddling with the menus.

Enjoy!

I must admit to being a bit apprehensive when I first picked the camera up as it was much heavier than the D3400. That said, once the strap was set up its really comfortable on the neck and felt good being that bit heavier.

We're off to Rhodes in a couple of weeks so I'll take the camera, book and go wandering and have a play with different settings and post some of what I capture up.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, much appreciated!
