Yes, I have successfully used my Kenko 1.4X PRO 300 Teleconverter with Sigma 150-600mm C lens on my D7200. Works well and auto-focuses fine.

Yes Woody is right, but I always try to use the center spots only.

Can now report i have ordered the D500 and Sigma 100-400, the camera will be a few days coming but i should have the lens later today, the shop has loaned me their demo D500 so i hope to start playing tomorrow.

It will probably focus OK in good light, but might hunt in low light. Sometimes there is enough light, but if there isn't enough contrast, the camera might hunt a bit more. In these situations, I usually cheat with manual focus. We tend to forget that this powerful feature still is available to most.

This is so important for anyone who struggles with low light focusing. Sometimes during Worship when the lights are low, I have to find a spot that has contrast to focus on. It can be the edge of a table that meets a lighter or darker color background, the edge of a music stand, or even the edge of a choir robe where the blue part meets the white part of the robe. I've also had to quickly switch to manual focus when the AF fails to lock onto to something. And most times I'm using my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. Typically it happens during night services such as Tennebrae when they start turing down the lights. By the end when the lights are all but extinguished, it's all manual focus until they turn up the lights for people exit.
