    Firmware upgrade.

I just recently upgraded ther firmware on my D7100 and since then I notice that in the menu, the usual icons don't appear for White balance;Direct sunlight, Flash, Cloudy,Shade, etc, but have been replace with a table of colour temperatures or Preset manual. Has this occurred during the firmware upgrade, or has a setting in my camera changed? I haven't used it for some time due to a protracted illness.
    Regards

Hold your WB button and rotate the command dial to the left and see if that fixes it.

    Hi Needa.
I did what you suggested, but with no success I'm afraid.
    Thank you for your help.

I have no real ideas. Just for clarification if you put your camera in manual mode, hold the WB button and turn the command dial the control panel window (top) doesn't show it scrolling through the options or are they missing in the internal menu or both? Does the firmware versions indicate the upgrade took place? If not you could try the upgrade again. Have you removed the battery and waited a couple of minutes and reinstalled it? The other thing I would try is a two button reset, might work.

It is a setting change I think. Does your white balance say PRE? If so enter the menu, then use the up or down arrow on the OK circular control to left of the memory card door. That should bring your menu back.

Thanks for the advice folks, but I'm afraid none of it works.
I decided a few weeks back that it was about time I upgraded my firmware, now I wish I hadn't bothered. At least I knew how to operate my camera before that!! For white balance settings, I was used to "Incandescent, direct sunlight, shade", etc. With these new settings, I'll need to know what colour temperature each setting represents, and at 74 I'm afraid that's a new trick this old dog can't handle.
I would like to know, however, what the 2 button reset technique is!!
    Many thanks

Simply press and hold the 2 buttons denoted by the green dots [Check your camera’s manual to see where on your specific camera body the buttons are placed] and hold until the control panel blinks.

    Here's a link to the 2 button reset. https://www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-an...r-cameras.html

This may be a silly question but... Pressing the four-way selector up/down doesn't reveal the other WB Presets?

Thank you so much Marilynne. Now I recognise the settings I am used to.
I take it that this reset won't have thrown away any of the upgrades to the camera?
You guys are something else, and once again, I love your wildlife shots
