    New to the D7100

    Hey fellow Nikonites,

So I finally upgraded from a D5100, to a D7100. It arrives today from B&H Photo. I decided to go with a refurbished one from them as it seemed like such an excellent deal. I am not too familiar with refurbished Nikon products but it does come with a 90-day factory warranty, all original documentation and after speaking to a B&H Rep they informed me on the condition which is a 9-10 rating. So I went with it. Was wondering if you guys had any experience using a refurbed body...good and bad?

My D5100 was a refurb and I have had a couple of lenses that were refurbs and never had a problem with any of them. I always get my refurbs from Cameta Camera since they offer a 1 year warranty on all theirs.

I haven't used a refurb body, but I have gone with a refurb lens. If it's factory refurb, it's a gem at a much nicer price, and I sure wouldn't worry about buying one. All ya need to do is test it out thoroughly in that first 90 days so B&H can take care of any issues.

Like Don, when I bought my refurb, I went with Cameta because of their 1 year warranty offering, but B&H is a reputable company as well.

    Congrats on the upgrade!!

I will have to check out Cameta, I am only familiar with BH and Adorama, oh and of course faithful craigslist haha. Yea the price was a much easier one to handle especially for being just a hobbyist.

I picked up my refurbished D7100 from Adorama in January. Very low on the shutter count (in the 100's).
I use it daily, (along with a refurbished 18-140) and I'm just at 6,000 clicks.
No problem. Very happy with it.

Great choice! My D7100 is a Nikon refurb, almost 2 years now. I'd gladly do it again.

Got home, and there it was on my doorstep! The body has only 1,100 shutter actuations and not a single flaw. I have a feeling it was a demo model at a best buy or some other retail store. But man I absolutely love it. I feel like with this upgrade a whole set of new doors as opened up for me. Couldnt be happier.
