Re: A good all round lens for the D7100
I have the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 non-VC on my D7100, love it. Best part is it was under $300 used shipped to my door

My D7000 came with the 18-140 mm
Its a pretty good one all around. im also looking for "the next" lense, but as i have the 18.140 stock, i find that it overlaps or ofers almost no diference to other kits...
Youve got lot of lenses, i may say that theres no point to buy anotherone if its going to be f/4
If i where you, i may try to sold all the zooms, and just get a 18-210, or any zoom lens with a fixed F/2 or something similar.
Its more of a "pro lens" as i read about. and Bigger aperture its More Bokeh and more capable of getting better shots at night.

For more reach, consider a used Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. Around $300 used - $ well spent

I have the 16-85mm VR and its for sale now since I have found that I need the tele end far more than I need the wide angle end in a general purpose walkaround lens. In the past couple trips I've done I have been frustrated by not having quite enough reach.
I just bought a new 18-140mm VR so hopefully this will serve my purposes.
I didn't get the 18-200mm VRII because I had one of thsoe before, and wasn't thrilled with it, plus the 18-140mm has the same filter size as the 70-300mm
I have the 11-16mm Tokina that I use specifically when I know I want wide angle.

I have the 18-140 for my D7100. It is the lens I grab when I am just going out shooting for nothing in particular. Great walking around lens. I also have the 18-200 that lives on my D7000 for my wife to shoot. She would never change lenses so that reach is just about right for her. I think it is a great lens but I just don't think the IQ is quite at good as the 18-140. But that is just my opinion.
I have the 70-300 and the Tokina 11-16 also. That seems to be the case with a lot of D7100 shooters. I guess that is our holy trinity. LOL

My son just picked up the nikon.com deal a couple months ago with the D610 paired with the 16-85 VR and 70-300 VR.
He is raving about the 16-85 VR says results are astounding with the D610....it is no kit lens and a bargain at the going prices it appears.Nikon D700/Nikon D300//MB-D10 Nikkor 28 2.8 Ai, 50 AF 1.4 D, 35-70 AF 2.8 D, 60 AF 2.8 D, 80-200 AF ED 2.8 D, 70-300 AF-S VR, 55-200DX VR, 18-55DX VR, SB-28 SB-600 - Fast D glass = Yes!

I liked the 16-85mm and wouldn't change it but want to travel lighter
I took my Fuji X100 out way more often than the NIkon D7100 and two lenses last time but limited to 23mm can feel really limiting! I think a 18-140mm on the D7100 and the X100 will be a good pair for general purpose/travel photos.

I just had the same decision to make. I checked the photos I have taken over the last 6 months and found I take an awful lot between 85mm and 140mm. That made my decision easy. I just bought the 18-140mm. My decision was also influenced be the fact that I also own the Sigma 10-20mm lens for the wide end.

I've got a Tamron 18-270mm as my walk around lens and unless I'm shooting birds or wildlife the 270mm is plenty for general use. I also have a Tokina 12-24mm because sometimes I find the 18mm is not wide enough. The Tokina is sharper anyway and I use it heaps.

Happy with the 18-140mm VR. Its about the same size as the 16-85mm, but quite a bit smaller than the 18-200mm and lighter. It doesn't have the problem of zoom creep like the 18-200mm which is nice
I always found that a minor annoyance with the 18-200mm.
